Young Anthony Volpe was ELITE defensively!

Anthony Volpe’s defensive fundamentals and overall consistency took a noticeable step backward after his historic rookie season with the New York Yankees. In 2023, Volpe became the first Yankees rookie to win a Gold Glove at shortstop, setting an incredibly high standard for himself from the beginning of his career. Since then, mechanical regression and a severe left labrum tear have made it more difficult for Volpe to maintain that level of production and consistency. The changes have affected both his performance and his role with the Yankees, turning his development into one of the more closely watched storylines surrounding the organization.
