Yankees offense vs. Rays (outside of Ben Rice)
15 views8 Oct 2026
The Yankees offense has been completely shut down by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2026 ALDS, falling into a 0–2 hole while managing just 5 total hits through the first 18 innings. New York has scored only two runs in the series, both coming on solo home runs from Ben Rice. They were shut out 1–0 in Game 1 before losing Game 2, 5–2.
The middle of the lineup has been a major problem. Hitters in spots 3 through 7, including Luis García Jr., Spencer Jones, George Lombard Jr., Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Trent Grisham, went a combined 0-for-33 with 11 strikeouts and just one walk through the first two games. The Yankees have gotten very little production from their young hitters, with 21-year-old George Lombard Jr. going 0-for-7.
New York has also struggled with a left-heavy lineup against Tampa Bay’s pitching and bullpen matchups. Outside of the two home runs from Rice, the Yankees have had trouble creating offense, failing to come through with timely hits and relying heavily on the long ball. With their season now on the line, the Yankees need their lineup to finally wake up.
