Widely considered one of the greatest pitching duels in Major League Baseball history, Game 7 of the 1991 World Series delivered high-stakes drama from start to finish. On October 27, 1991, Minnesota Twins starter Jack Morris famously battled Atlanta Braves right-hander John Smoltz through nine scoreless innings at the packed Metrodome. Refusing to leave the game, a legendary 36-year-old Morris returned to pitch a brilliant 10th inning, completing a rare 10-inning complete-game shutout. In the bottom of the 10th, Gene Larkin stepped up as a pinch-hitter with the bases loaded and delivered a walk-off single to score Dan Gladden, clinching a 1-0 victory and the World Series title for Minnesota. To this day, it stands as the only Game 7 in Fall Classic history to end 1-0 in extra innings, cementing its place in baseball lore.
