Steph needed help when Klay went down đ
Steph Curryâs 2019 Finals run doesnât get talked about enough. Kevin Durant went down, Klay Thompson missed Game 3 and eventually tore his ACL in Game 6, and the Warriorsâ depth was nowhere near what it had been during their championship runs. Toronto could throw multiple defenders at Steph knowing Golden State was running out of reliable scoring options.
Even with all that, Curry averaged 30.5 points, 6.0 assists, and 5.2 rebounds in the Finals. In Game 3, with Klay and KD both unavailable, Steph exploded for 47 points while Torontoâs defense focused almost entirely on stopping him. The box score says Golden State lost the series 4â2, but it doesnât show how much Curry was being asked to carry.
People remember the Warriors as an unbeatable superteam, but by the end of the 2019 Finals, that team was falling apart physically. Steph was still battling until the final possession of Game 6. Give him a healthy supporting cast for that entire series and NBA history might look very different. đđ„
