Yankees sweep Red Sox in AL Wild Card Series behind Max Fried's dominant performance

The New York Yankees swept the Boston Red Sox in the 2026 AL Wild Card Series by completely throttling Boston’s ice-cold offense, outscoring their rivals 18–2 over two games at Yankee Stadium. In Game 1, Cam Schlittler struck out 10 batters over 6.1 scoreless innings, while Ben Rice drove in six runs with two homers—including a grand slam—to secure a 9–0 blowout. The Yankees sealed the sweep the following night with a 9–2 victory, backed by Max Fried’s six dominant innings and Cody Bellinger’s four RBIs, which included a decisive three-run home run that broke the game wide open in the sixth inning.
