Ben Rice Leads Yankees to Victory in AL Wild Card Game 1

Ben Rice powered the New York Yankees to a 9-0 blowout win over the Boston Red Sox in Game 1 of the AL Wild Card Series on Tuesday night, going 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, and six RBIs. Rice made Yankees postseason history with his incredible performance, becoming the first player in franchise history to record four hits and six RBIs in a single playoff game. The Cohasset, Massachusetts native delivered the first dagger with a solo home run in the fifth inning off Erik Miller before putting the game completely out of reach with an eighth-inning grand slam off Brayan Bello. Rice wasn’t the only Massachusetts native making an impact. Cam Schlittler dominated the Red Sox, tossing 6.1 scoreless innings with 10 strikeouts to earn the win and help the Yankees cruise to victory despite the absence of injured captain Aaron Judge.
