At the height of WWE’s legendary Attitude Era, WrestleMania X-Seven in 2001 produced one of the most breathtaking and dangerous moments in professional wrestling history. Widely regarded as one of the greatest WrestleManias ever, the event reached another level with the unforgettable TLC II match featuring The Hardy Boyz, Edge & Christian, and The Dudley Boyz.
One of the night’s most iconic moments came when Jeff Hardy climbed toward the championship titles, only to have his ladder pulled away, leaving him suspended nearly 20 feet above the ring with nowhere to safely land. With Jeff dangling helplessly in midair, Edge then climbed a 15-foot ladder and launched himself into one of WWE’s most famous spots, striking Jeff with a perfectly timed spear while both men were airborne.
The resulting crash was absolutely spectacular — a stunning combination of timing, trust, coordination, and sheer bravery. It perfectly captured the innovative and high-risk style that made TLC matches, and the Attitude Era itself, so memorable.
Years later, Jeff Hardy revealed that Rhino played an important role in working out the mechanics of the spot, helping position Jeff’s body at the right angle to make Edge’s spear possible. That behind-the-scenes detail showcased the incredible teamwork and creativity involved in pulling off such a dangerous moment — one that would ultimately become permanently etched into wrestling history.
