Messi leaves the national team as one of its greatest-ever players, having won two Copa América titles and the 2022 World Cup. Messi made 207 appearances for Argentina and scored 125 goals. He also reflected on his journey with the national team, saying he leaves with serenity and pride after sharing unforgettable moments with his teammates and giving supporters the dream moments they had long hoped for. The Argentina captain also thanked supporters for their love throughout his two decades with the national team, saying he will now support the side from the outside. “Thank you, God, for making me Argentinian. Go Argentina, Messi concluded.
