A graduate of the University of West Georgia, Gates earned his Bachelor’s in Mass Communications and Journalism; and is presently pursuing his Master’s in Sports Management. During his time at UWG, he served as Editor-in-Chief of The West Georgian, where he led the newsroom, managed editorial strategy, and grew readership through strong digital storytelling.

Gates began his career covering local sports and digital media in college with his work including being a Freelance Sports Reporter/Multimedia Journalist/ Student Guest Host for UWG WOLF Radio and UWG WOLF Sports before building a following for his analysis and creative production. His work has been recognized for its authenticity, journalistic depth, and on-camera charisma—hallmarks of his growing brand as one of the next great voices in sports broadcasting.
