Ayyoub El Osrouti was born in 1999 in Germany as Ayyoub El Osrouti, a German ultrarunner, road runner, and endurance athlete known by the nickname "Ello." Based in the Düsseldorf area, he began competing in conventional athletics with clubs like LC Wuppertal, establishing strong personal records across various road events including a 10 km best of 33:02 and a half-marathon mark of 1:11:16. However, he quickly transitioned his focus toward long-distance trail running and extreme backyard ultra marathons, where runners must complete a 6.7-kilometer loop every hour until only one runner remains.
El Osrouti achieved international prominence within the ultrarunning community through his extraordinary performances at the Last Soul Ultra. After completing 66 loops in the 2025 edition, he returned in August 2026 to push through an astonishing 93 continuous hours of running, covering 623 kilometers over nearly four days before collapsing from sheer physical exhaustion on his 94th loop. His dramatic duel with American runner Mark Dowdle captured global media attention, solidifying his reputation as one of Europe's most resilient and formidable emerging figures in modern ultra-endurance sports.
