Blake Grupe's Rams Debut: Kicker Injures Knee While Making a Tackle

Rams kicker Blake Grupe made a 44-yard field goal in his debut, then got hurt making a tackle on the kickoff. Grupe was signed by the Rams after they cut Harrison Mevis following Week 5. On Sunday, Oct. 18, he kicked the 44-yarder in the first quarter, then ran down on the kickoff and made the tackle, lowering his shoulder and landing awkwardly. The Rams announced him as doubtful to return with a knee injury. Punter Ethan Evans was set to take over kicking duties. Kickers don’t often make tackles, but when the return team breaks through, they’re the last line of defense.
