Takuto Otoguro's Thrilling Run to 65kg Freestyle Title at 2018 World Championships

At the 2018 World Championships in Budapest, Takuto OTOGURO announced himself on the senior stage with a thrilling run to the 65kg freestyle title. He beat Russia’s Akhmed CHAKAEV 15–10 in the semifinals, then outscored India’s Bajrang PUNIA 16–9 in a final that UWW named its Freestyle Match of the Year. At 19 years and 10 months old, Otoguro became Japan’s youngest-ever men’s freestyle world champion, breaking a national age record that stood for 44 years.
