SummerSlam at Wembley: Bret Hart vs. British Bulldog classic

34 years ago today, WWE SummerSlam made history at Wembley Stadium in London, England. It was the first WWF PPV ever held outside North America, drawing more than 80,000 fans — at the time, the largest legitimate attendance for a pro wrestling event in history. In the main event, England’s own British Bulldog defeated his brother-in-law Bret “Hitman” Hart to win the Intercontinental Championship in front of his home crowd. The match is still regarded as one of the greatest in company history and one Bret Hart has cited among the greatest matches of his career.
