Ottis "OJ" Anderson
Ottis "OJ" Anderson is a former professional football player who is widely considered one of the best running backs in NFL history. He played for the New York Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his career, during which he amassed a number of impressive statistics and accolades.
Anderson was drafted by the Giants in the first round of the 1979 NFL Draft, and quickly established himself as one of the top running backs in the league. He won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 1979 and went on to earn two Pro Bowl selections, three first-team All-Pro honors, and one NFL Most Valuable Player award.
In his first season with the Giants, Anderson rushed for 1,602 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was a key player in helping the Giants win Super Bowl XXV in 1991. He is the Giants' all-time leading rusher with 7,091 yards and he also holds the record for the most rushing yards in a single game in Giants history with 234 yards.
Anderson's career statistics include 8,597 rushing yards and 56 touchdowns on 2,062 carries, as well as 441 receptions for 3,444 yards and 5 touchdowns. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2012. He's considered one of the best athletes to play the game of football and is a true legend of the sport.
