Conor McGregor vs Eddie Alvarez UFC 205

At UFC 205 inside a raucous Madison Square Garden in November 2016, Conor McGregor produced arguably the finest performance of his entire career, dismantling lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez to become the first fighter in UFC history to hold two titles simultaneously. From the opening bell, McGregor delivered a striking masterclass of the highest order, his footwork, distance management and pinpoint accuracy leaving the durable Alvarez utterly bewildered and unable to land anything of note. The Irishman dropped Alvarez multiple times in the first round with his trademark left hand, showboating and taunting between the knockdowns with supreme, almost arrogant confidence. In the second round he finished the job, unloading a flurry of flush combinations that sent Alvarez crashing to the canvas, crowning himself the new lightweight king and cementing his place in the sport's history books. It was McGregor at his ruthless, mesmerising best, a performance so complete that even his fiercest critics were forced to acknowledge his genius on the sport's grandest stage.
