Fliff’s NFL Picks Have Receipts: Victory Laps, Bad Calls, and the Cowboys

3 min read

Everybody is a football genius before kickoff. Then the games start, and suddenly the group chat has questions. Across the opening two weeks of the NFL season, creators participating in Fliff’s campaign on MILLIONS put their picks on the record. No quietly switching teams in the third quarter. No pretending that was actually your friend’s prediction. The posts are right there. So let’s hand out some credit, revisit a few confident calls, and check on the people who trusted Dallas. They’ve been through enough. Almost.

4th & Ward: Jack did the group project. Dallas forgot to turn it in.

Coach Adam Wardlaw and his 4th & Ward cohost Jack built a two-leg Week 1 parlay: Adam took the Cowboys -2.5 against the Giants, while Jack went with the Cardinals +10.5 against the Chargers. Jack’s side deserves a little applause. Arizona won 26–14, so the Cardinals covered the 10.5-point spread without needing a single one of those points. Jack asked them to keep it close. Arizona apparently heard “make me look like a genius.”

Then there was Dallas. The Cowboys lost 28–20 to the Giants. Adam needed a win by at least three and got a loss by eight. That is a fairly significant difference in the homework. The hometown loyalty was understandable. The result was less cooperative. Jack brought a winning leg to the parlay; Dallas brought an explanation that nobody particularly wanted to hear.

Verdict: Jack earns the victory lap. Adam gets first dibs on changing the subject. Watch 4th & Ward’s picks

Chris Razh: Correct, with a complimentary stress test

Chris Razh backed Seattle over New England in Week 1, pointing to the Seahawks’ defense and trusting the offense to do enough. A sensible case. Apparently “enough” was going to require everyone to sit through a small crisis first. Seattle fell behind 10–0 before rallying for a 13–10 win. The Seahawks made the winning call look uncomfortable for a while, but the final score backed Chris up.

Give him credit for the reasoning, too. He leaned on Seattle’s defense, and New England finished with just 10 points. The offense supplied exactly the amount of assistance required to avoid an awkward follow-up video. A three-point win counts. Nobody asked Chris to predict a relaxing evening.

Verdict: Take the bow, Chris. Maybe wait until your heart rate comes down. Watch Chris Razh’s pick

Nick Maximov: The under has left the chat

For the Week 2 Lions–Bills game, Nick Maximov posted an under-53.5 pick. In other words, he needed the two teams to combine for 53 points or fewer. Buffalo won 41–31. That is 72 points. Nick asked for a quiet night. The teams brought a drum kit.

The total finished 18.5 points above his line, which takes this comfortably out of “one unlucky bounce” territory. At some point, you stop checking whether the under still has a chance and start admiring the commitment to scoring. There is nothing wrong with going against the expected shootout. It just becomes a much tougher argument when the shootout arrives, makes itself at home, and asks what’s for dinner.

Verdict: Full credit for putting the call on the record. The scoreboard would like a word. Watch Nick Maximov’s Week 2 pick

The picks are on the record. So are the punchlines.

That’s the fun of following creators through a football season: you get the confidence before kickoff and the receipts afterward. Jack’s Arizona call gets its flowers. Chris gets to say he told us so. Adam and Nick have supplied material for the group chat. Through Fliff’s campaign on MILLIONS, those opinions become part of the conversation around the games. And two weeks in, there is already plenty to talk about.
