He was a 2-time Gold Gloves champion, building a strong amateur boxing foundation back in 2007–2008. But even early on, the experience inside the sport didn’t always match the work he was putting in. Fights where he felt he clearly won didn’t always go his way. Traveling to different places, competing as a kid, and still walking away with losses—it started to change how he viewed the sport itself. That frustration eventually led him to step away from boxing and transition into MMA. The feeling was simple: in MMA, if you hurt someone, you can finish them—no leaving it in someone else’s hands. Even though he’s gone back and forth between boxing and MMA, the biggest takeaway was clear: he wanted a sport where performance directly dictated the outcome.
