Juraj Slafkovsky is a Slovak professional ice hockey forward for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL). Selected first overall by the Canadiens in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, he became the highest-drafted Slovak player in NHL history. Slafkovský currently plays on the Canadiens' top line and recently signed an eight-year contract, solidifying his role as a core part of the team’s future. Slafkovský first rose to prominence as a member of the Slovak national team at the 2022 Winter Olympics, where he played a pivotal role in securing the country’s first-ever Olympic medal in ice hockey.
