Jalen Hurts was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli, meaning a blood clot formed in his leg and traveled to both of his lungs. The issue started after he suffered a calf injury and a cleat impact during an October game against the Los Angeles Rams, which later developed into a superficial clot. During a trip to London, the condition worsened as the clot moved deeper into his vein and eventually broke off to lodge in his lungs. Because blood clots in the lungs can block vital blood flow and pose serious health risks, doctors placed him on blood thinners for treatment. This medical condition is expected to sideline him for at least three months and keep him out for the remainder of the 2026 NFL season, though he is clinically stable and expected to make a full recovery before returning to contact sports.
