Miami was up 13-0 on FIU in their first-ever meeting when, 9 minutes into the second half, an extra point attempt exploded into one of the ugliest brawls college football has ever seen. FIU’s Chris Smith body-slammed the Miami holder, and chaos erupted — Brandon Meriweather stomping on grounded players, an injured FIU player swinging his crutches, and Miami’s Anthony Reddick ripping off his own helmet and swinging it as a weapon. Police stormed the field; the fight even spilled into the stands. Final tally: 31 suspensions (13 Miami, 18 FIU), 2 FIU players dismissed outright. Miami won 35-0. The game nobody remembers for the score.
