WORLD CHAMPIONS, LOCKDOWN BEGINNERS AND A GRUDGE THREE MONTHS IN THE MAKING: FIGHT NIGHT COMES TO SCALA
MILLIONS
April 25, 2026
Boxing Grand Prix (BXGP) and Muay Thai Grand Prix (MTGP) take over Scala, King's Cross for a full day of combat sports on 9 May. Muay Thai Grand Prix opens the show at 1:30pm with 12 fights on the card, running through to 5:00pm. Boxing Grand Prix follows at 6:00pm with 15 fights, concluding at 9:00pm.
The card brings together title fights, a Muay Thai world champion making his boxing debut, and a rivalry that spent three months playing out on social media before it could be settled in a ring.
Ciaráin "The Menace" Shanahan once beat Reon "Beast Re" Wong in Muay Thai and claimed the WBC Muay Thai Light Heavyweight title. Wong walked away from the sport, crossed into boxing, and has not lost since, building a 9-0 record. Shanahan suffered a serious knee injury that ended his Muay Thai career by taking away his ability to kick entirely. On 9 May he makes his boxing debut. He has said publicly that boxing is a stepping stone toward bare-knuckle fighting, which he considers the closest sport to Muay Thai.
José "Pitbull" Varela brings one of the most decorated records on the card. A veteran of 69 Muay Thai fights who found his peace in combat sports after a difficult early life, Varela returns to BXGP to face Silvano "The Drummer" Santagata, a K-1 fighter known for his aggression and relentless forward pressure. The BXGP European Title is on the line.
Razvan "The Juggernaut" Sandulache defends the BXGP Intercontinental Heavyweight Title he earned by defeating Billy Herron twice by unanimous decision. Despite being in the early stages of his boxing career, his MMA and kickboxing background has already made him a champion. Standing across from him is Nick "Igor" Reed, a Welsh heavyweight whose nickname was given by his own coach as a tribute to his strength, and whose team has stated publicly they are confident they can take the title.
Dante "Too Smooth" Cummings and Kenz "Pretty Boy" Bailey were scheduled to meet at the previous BXGP show. Bailey withdrew citing a training injury. Cummings said publicly he did not believe it. Bailey responded on social media. The argument ran for weeks. On 9 May they finally share a ring.
The women's bout features Kristyna Pacalova, a Czech athlete who competed at national elite level in both tennis and ice hockey before arriving in London and taking up boxing. She is now 6-0 and holds the BXGP National Welterweight title. A natural lightweight who trains predominantly against men due to a shortage of willing opponents at her level, she faces Shelly Sweeney on 9 May. Sweeney is a former amateur with over 20 bouts, two national titles, and a history representing Team GB. Her management has confirmed she recently won a title in another promotion by knockout inside the first minute.
Alfie "The Young Prospect" Stilwell earned his nickname as one of the youngest fighters to come through BXGP. He holds the BXGP National Middleweight title after a first-round TKO victory in April 2025, and returns to Scala to defend it against Jordan Shakur, a 20-year-old who reviewed Stilwell's record and took the fight anyway.
"This card reflects exactly what BXGP and MTGP are about," said promoter Georges Ngay-Katalay. "These are real people with real stories. Fighters who have come back from injury, crossed over from other sports, or stepped up to face a champion when nobody expected them to. Scala is the right venue for that. It has always been a place where people do something unexpected."
