Zach Ertz is 11 catches away from the franchise record

Zach Ertz put together one of the greatest careers by a tight end in Philadelphia Eagles history. Drafted 35th overall in 2013, Ertz spent nine seasons in Philadelphia and finished his Eagles career with 579 receptions, 6,267 receiving yards and 38 touchdowns. His 579 catches were second-most in franchise history when he left, trailing only Hall of Famer Harold Carmichael. His peak was special, especially in 2018 when he caught 116 passes for 1,163 yards and eight touchdowns. Those 116 receptions established an NFL single-season record for a tight end at the time and also set the Eagles’ single-season franchise record for catches. Ertz became one of the league’s premier tight ends and ultimately earned three Pro Bowl selections during his career. But Ertz will forever be a Philadelphia legend because of Super Bowl LII. With the Eagles trailing New England 33-32, Nick Foles found Ertz for an 11-yard touchdown with 2:21 remaining, putting Philadelphia ahead for good in its 41-33 victory and delivering the franchise its first Super Bowl championship. No matter what else happened in his career, Ertz catching the go-ahead touchdown on the biggest drive in Eagles history permanently cemented No. 86 in Philadelphia sports history.
